How do you build better products, faster, and together?

We sat down with Cansu Kilit, Senior Product Enablement Manager, to talk about the Product Development Playbook: seven guiding principles shaped by 40+ conversations across teams. From “Think big, start real” to “Create value together,” it’s designed to help us focus on what matters most.

Tell us about the Product Development Playbook and the principles.

The Playbook is built around seven guiding principles that remind us what really matters when we develop products. These principles help us decide better, build smarter, and create value together. It’s for people in product, tech, and design, and for everyone who plays a part in making great products happen.

How did you create it?

We started by asking questions. We ran around 40 interviews across different teams and roles to understand what’s working well and what’s getting in the way when we develop products. Then we worked closely with our CPTO and the P&T leadership team to shape the direction.
A small core group led the work, but it was shaped by many.

Which principle is your favourite?

I would say “Think big, start real”. In a rapidly changing world, it reminds us to stay ambitious but act fast. It’s about turning big ideas into something real.
It’s also where tools like AI and rapid prototyping really make a difference by helping us move and learn faster.

I also really like “Create value together”. It connects so well to our Vend values, Unite and Deliver, and captures how we want to build as one team.

What was your highlight in this work?

Definitely the launch. A month ago, we hosted a panel with colleagues to reflect on the principles, and it was great to hear how people already live them in their daily work. You could really feel the energy and drive across the organisation to keep improving how we work together.
