History
From pioneering online marketplaces in the Nordics to shaping the future of digital connections, our journey has always been about making life easier. With decades of experience—and a new chapter as Vend—we’re just getting started.
1990s — From print to online
Our marketplaces journey began as five Schibsted newspapers experimented with digital classifieds during the internet’s rise.

2000 — FINN is launched
Despite a failed first attempt, we persevered with the aim of providing users with the best marketplace experience.

2003 — Blocket is acquired
Our marketplaces journey in Sweden is initiated, and the model became the blueprint for international expansion.

2006 — Exporting Nordic success
We initiated a global classifieds expansion strategy, leading to 43 sites in 34 countries after eight years

2009 — Tori is launched
Inspired by its Swedish sibling, our Finnish marketplace quickly became the second-hand leader, providing a superior user experience, further strengthening our Nordic foothold.

2012 — Mobile first
Despite desktop dominance, we took a bold step and embraced a mobile-first approach for FINN. Today the FINN mobile app is one of Norway’s largest.

2013 — Pioneering marketplaces
We grow our marketplaces with continuous innovation. Blocket sees 5 million weekly visitors, FINN.no is Norway’s top site, and Leboncoin attracts 6 billion monthly page views.

2019 — Packaging the international success
Our non-Nordic marketplaces were spun off as Adevinta and listed in Norway’s largest IPO in 13 years, positioning it for independent growth.

2020–2021 — Nordic consolidation
With acquisitions in Finland (Oikotie) and Denmark (DBA and Bilbasen), we built a Nordic classifieds powerhouse.

2022 — Elevating the user experience
Launch of our smooth payment and shipping solution FiksFerdig, now trusted by 4 out 5 Norwegians.

2024 — Platform consolidation
Moving Tori to our Nordic platform boost speed and efficiency, with the swift launch of ToriDiili showcasing the power of a common platform.

2024 — Realising year of value creation
Building on over 20 years of international success, we unlock value by selling a majority of our stake in Adevinta. Soon after, we carved out our media operations, creating two focused companies ready for future success.

2025 — Becoming Vend
In the first half of 2025, Schibsted Marketplaces changed its corporate brand name to Vend. The name is inspired by the spirit of commerce and reflects the essence of meeting points—places where people can connect to find what they need, whether it’s a job, a home, a means of transport, or a fresh start.
