This focus will help us achieve market leadership, increase profitability, and ensure sustainable growth. By simplifying, verticalising, and expanding, we aim to unlock new value, drive innovation, and build a stronger future for Schibsted Marketplaces.

This strategic direction is a natural continuum of our verticalisation journey. We will double down on our existing leadership positions and we will bet on tomorrow’s winners by accelerating positions and concepts where we have the capabilities and playbook needed to win. The changes we’re making are based on a thorough analysis of market trends, customer needs, and our past performance. While change is challenging, these decisions position us for long-term growth, profitability, and the ability to serve our users and customers better.

We aim to build on our legacy and continue to be a front-runner in the marketplace industry. This means accelerating our future winners by simplifying our portfolio and organisation, deepening our vertical capabilities, and scaling across our businesses to deliver superior products. Furthermore, we will accelerate our positions and concepts where we have the capabilities and playbook needed to win.

To ensure that we succeed with our new strategy, the strategy has three key value-creation levers to help steer us in the right direction.

Simplify

We are simplifying our organisation by focusing on fewer priorities and building on our core strengths to become a pure-play marketplaces company. This will reduce complexity and dependencies, enabling our verticals to move and innovate faster, creating a lean, agile organisation where cost discipline and efficiency are embedded in our culture and ways of working.

Verticalise

We will deepen our vertical expertise to understand and serve our users’ and customers’ needs better than anyone else, providing superior and specialised products. We will innovate on a consolidated platform to increase scale, eliminate duplications and strengthen our commercial approach, allowing us to boost monetisation.

Expand

We take the long-term view to bet on tomorrow's winners by investing in positions where we have the capabilities and playbook to win. By staying focused on the Nordics, we’re well-positioned to leverage future expansion opportunities.

Our financial ambition

In parallel with our growth agenda, we will work to improve our profitability closer to our peers. However, with these targets we have made a conscious choice to leave room for a broader innovation and growth agenda, accepting lower margins than most other marketplace companies.

At the same time, we are positioning Schibsted as a leaner and more agile organisation. To improve profitability, we aim to achieve our revenue goals without growing our operating costs. This means that we will continue to work on efficiency to make sure our cost base is fit for a smaller and more focused company.
